A collection of 17 African nations contend within the AfHF. In the past, competitions within Africa have been confusing to follow. However, the AfHF have streamlined their competitions in the hopes of replicating Zimbabwe's success at the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games where they they claimed the first Women's Field hockey Olympic gold. These new competitions include;

*African Nations Championships

-Africa Cup for Nations

-Africa Junior Cup for Nations



*Club Competitions

-African Cup of Club Champions
